The capital hosts the Nobel Fest science festival, which will last until October 7. Nobel Prize winners, well-known scientists and entrepreneurs perform on its site, El.kz reports with reference to the website of the Astana Mayor's Office.
The festival was opened by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek.
He told the participants of the event about plans for the development of the education sector.
"We are now on the verge of a major scientific revolution. First, in November last year, a small company called OpenAI launched ChatGPT. This is the fourth generation of artificial intelligence – generative intelligence. Immediately after that, the competition between the tech giants began. In other words, such a small company has created a powerful disruption in the race for innovation. 2023 has even been declared the year of artificial intelligence.
When we hear about such news, our ministry monitors, records changes and notes trends. In his address "Economic Course of a Fair Kazakhstan", President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed at least three universities to start training and research in the field of AI. Today, we conduct such courses at 14 universities. If this project is successful, then next year the course on working with artificial intelligence will be introduced in all universities of the country," the minister said.
Concluding his speech, Sayasat Nurbek congratulated the teachers of Kazakhstan on Teacher's Day, which coincided with the beginning of the festival, and thanked famous scientists for participating in the event.
Lectures by invited experts will be held in three main areas.
The first track is innovation. Here they will talk about the latest technological achievements, discuss issues about artificial intelligence, inventions like GPT, and neural networks. New industries, robots, and how the future of the labor market will change will also be discussed.
The second track is related to science and includes questions about mysteries that will be revealed in the near future, as well as research into the human brain and consciousness. It also discusses quantum computers and issues related to life beyond Earth and extraterrestrial civilizations.
The third track is related to education and reveals modern practices in this industry, as well as what skills and knowledge are becoming important in the digital age.
