Korea, Kazakhstan to Forge Stronger Ties in Water Industry Cooperation

NUR-SULTAN - Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea held Korea-Kazakhstan Water Industry Cooperation event to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, K-Water Corporation, Korea Water Partnership, 9 water companies (Samjin Precision, Usol, Hydronet, etc.), in total 17 delegates participated in the event from the Korean party. Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Kazakh Invest" JSC, 9 companies in the field of water management took part from Kazakhstan party.

The water cooperation event consisted of a workshop in the morning and business meetings in the afternoon. At the seminar, the Kazakhstan party introduced the water policy, business plan for water supply and sewerage, investment system, and then Korean companies presented their equipment and technologies. In the afternoon, representatives of business groups in Korea and Kazakhstan discuss issues on cooperation face to face.

The event was of particular importance as it was held under Central Asia - Republic of Korea Forum at the level of Foreign Ministers to discuss cooperation between Korea and Central Asia.

"Taking into account that Kazakhstan is the country with the most developed water industry in Central Asia, we decided to hold an water management cooperation event first of all in Kazakhstan among the countries of Central Asia. We hope that this event will become an opportunity for further development of cooperation between Korea and Kazakhstan in the field of trade and investment in the water sector” said a representative of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
