Kazakhstan and France discuss cooperation in field of nuclear energy

Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov met with Senior Vice President for the Development of New International Nuclear Projects of the French company Électricité de France (EDF) Vakis Ramani, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

At the meeting, a number of key issues in the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy were discussed, including the EPR-1200 reactor proposed by the French side for the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan.

We note that France has a full cycle of nuclear fuel production. In 2021, the Ulba-TVS plant was launched in Ust-Kamenogorsk to produce finished nuclear fuel for Chinese nuclear power plants using French Framatome technology.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence in continuing joint work to build a mutually beneficial partnership for the development of nuclear energy.
