Chairman of Kazakh Anti-Corruption Agency meets with British Ambassador to Kazakhstan

The sides discussed issues of illegal enrichment, combating money laundering and others

On November 8, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency Olzhas Bektenov met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Kazakhstan Catherine Jane Leach, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the agency.

Olzhas Bektenov informed about the ongoing anti-corruption reforms in the country, including the implementation of the Concept of Anti-Corruption Policy for 2022-2026, the digitalization of public services, measures to return illegally withdrawn assets and protect investors in Kazakhstan.

In turn, Catherine Jane Leach positively noted the sequence of Kazakhstan's steps in improving anti-corruption legislation, introducing the best anti-corruption practices by the Agency, contributing to a noticeable decrease in corruption in the country.

In addition, the Ambassador expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the Agency, as well as readiness to provide support, technical assistance in combating corruption.

During the meeting, issues of illegal enrichment, combating money laundering, establishing the practice of of beneficiaries of company owners, etc. were discussed.

Following the meeting, the parties noted the need to expand cooperation in these areas.
