The meeting discussed the possibility of holding the World Hockey Championship in 2027 in the capital and Almaty.
Kazakhstan's readiness to host the world hockey championship was previously confirmed by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Voting on the choice of the host country of the World Cup will be held in May 2023.
During the meeting, Yerbolat Dossayev spoke about the rich experience of Almaty in holding such major sporting events as the 2011 Asian Winter Games, the 2017 Winter World Universiade, world championships, World cup stages in various sports.
The head of the city confirmed the readiness of the metropolis to host the World Hockey Championship in Almaty, the availability of the necessary developed sports and hotel infrastructure. According to the participants of the meeting, the holding of the World Hockey Championship in Kazakhstan will give impetus to its popularization at the country level, and at the international level it will increase the number of supporters of this winter sport in the entire Asian region.
